Under interrogation, her mother breaks and reveals that she has been faking the girl's illness. Nixon and Perkins set up a surveillance operation on the supposed 'Grab-A-Gram' outfit, and trail one of the runners back to Benjamin Meadows' flat, but he denies any involvement in the operation. Meanwhile, at the trial of Lee Thomas, Yvonne's fate looks all but sealed, until Stamp discovers that a tramp who tries to burst into the court is a vital witness to the case, who can corroborate Yvonne's version of events leading up to the fatal blow.
