Hal turns down Emilys proposal, saying that he doesnt want her to marry him just to create a stable environment for Alison. Alison overhears their conversation and misunderstands. She heads out. Emily explains to Hal that she thinks that Alison is her second chance at getting her life right. Hal doesnt think that marriage is the answer and Emily leaves, hurt. Jack reveals to Carly that he beat Craig up. Carly is upset, which just makes Jack angrier and he breaks a lamp. Jack challenges her about why she keeps being drawn to Craig.
